Minister of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan Kanatbek Chynybaev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Kyrgyz Republic Ryuichi Hirano.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the parties discussed expanding cooperation in disaster risk reduction, strengthening the ministry’s capacity, and introducing modern early warning systems.
Particular attention was paid to the development of an earthquake early warning system aimed at providing timely alerts to the population of Kyrgyzstan and countries in Central Asia about potential natural disasters.
The Japanese side expressed interest in supporting this initiative, as well as in implementing joint projects.
The parties also noted the successful cooperation within previously implemented projects aimed at enhancing the capacity of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and reducing disaster risks.
