Nadira Narmatova in Geneva. Who financed deputy's trip abroad?

An international workshop «Comprehensive measurement, definition, development, establishment of indicators of harmonious poverty statistics» was held on November 27 in Geneva (Switzerland) within the framework of the project «Sustainable and Favorable National Statistical System.» The National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan reported on social media.

The event was attended by deputies of the Parliament, members of the Committee on Budget, Economy and Fiscal Policy Nadira Narmatova, Sharapatkan Mazhitova and First Deputy Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee Nazira Kerimalieva.

The event was organized with the support of the UN.

Earlier, in its letter the UN stated that Nadira Narmatova’s bill on foreign agents contradicts the international obligations of Kyrgyzstan. And the UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan, Antje Grawe, noted at public hearings on the bill that if adopted, the document risks leading to a disruption at best and a termination, at worst, of financial support for the Kyrgyz Republic from the international organization.

UN programs, like many other international organizations and institutions, are donors to the country. Kyrgyzstan is essentially the main recipient of grants, credits and loans. However, Nadira Narmatova blames only the civil sector for foreign funding.

On October 25, the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan adopted in the first reading changes to the Law on NGOs and the Criminal Code, initiated by Nadira Narmatova and a group of deputies, which provide for the introduction of the concept of «foreign representative» (analogue to a foreign agent in Russian legislation).

A petition has been created demanding the introduction of personal sanctions and visa restrictions for deputies promoting the law on foreign agents and their close relatives. It was posted on Change.org website.
