Elevator operators of Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Kazakhstan hold meeting in Bishkek

Elevator operators of Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Kazakhstan discussed challenges and opportunities for the development of the industry in Bishkek. The Elevator Association of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The main topic of the round table was to discuss the development of the elevator industry in the CIS countries, prospects and problems of state regulation of the industry, introduction of modern technologies in the process of management of elevator enterprises, human resources, modernization of elevator park of the countries and others.

Head of the Kyrgyz Elevator Association Rakhat Zhunushbaeva noted that the market of elevator products in Kyrgyzstan is actively developing and there are enough companies offering such products in the country.

«At the same time, it is important for the companies to have an opportunity to develop, to fully stand on their feet. The main thing is not to oversaturate the market, and it is important to have quality products. Yes, now we have to compete with companies from different countries on price, but in our segment Kyrgyz elevators are not inferior in quality,» she said.

Rakhat Zhunushbaeva added that for the development of the domestic elevator sphere the state support is necessary.

«With state support we could fully develop not only the Kyrgyz market, but also expand exports to other countries. But the most important thing is the state regulation in this sphere, because unscrupulous suppliers of products and services, on whose activities people’s safety depends, appear on the market. There must be strict control in this area,» she said.

The head of the Kyrgyz Elevator Association drew attention to the lack of personnel in the elevator sector and proposed to create a collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Science to create modern training centers on the basis of professional technical schools.

«The fact that our country lacks personnel in technical spheres is not a secret for anyone. University graduates cannot work due to lack of knowledge and experience. Therefore, it is important that training centers are created directly by business, which can provide industrial practices and practical training,» she said.

Rakhat Zhunushbaeva also added that businessmen are ready to cooperate with the state, donor organizations, civil society and investors in all the directions mentioned.

Executive Director of the National Elevator Union of Russia Pyotr Kharlamov noted that government control in the elevator sector is very important, as it directly influences the safety of people.

«In Russia, homeowners do not always have the opportunity to replace old elevators, so we are developing different options on how this can be done. It is clear that replacement of old elevators requires co-financing from the state, but if this is not yet available, we can find other options. For example: we offer loans with installments; support for the lifecycle of elevators, when users receive service for the entire time of operation of elevators. One of the options to save money is installation of elevators of domestic production, as well as manufactured in the EAEU countries,» he explained.

President of the National Association of Elevator Operators of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Igibayev also drew attention to the need for state control in the industry.

«In Kazakhstan, there was also a mess in the elevator sector. It lasted until a girl died in an elevator in 2018. Only after that the state authorities paid attention to the sphere. As a result, our country has a national standard that prescribes clear norms,» he said.

However, according to him, the mechanism of work is not yet fully worked out. «All elevators in Kazakhstan are registered, and control is entrusted to municipal bodies, not all of them are properly trained to carry out control. However, state bodies have begun to work in close connection with business. We are ready to share this experience,» he suggested.
