At least 71,700 foreign students study at the universities of Kyrgyzstan in the 2022/2023 academic year. The National Statistical Committee provided the data.
According to it, more than 43,000 people of them are citizens of the CIS countries:
- Uzbekistan — 40,282;
- Kazakhstan — 3,179;
- Russia — 1,916;
- Tajikistan — 876;
- Turkmenistan — 64;
- India — 15,306;
- Pakistan — 8,407;
- Turkey — 467;
- China — 399;
- Afghanistan — 347;
- other countries — 431.
