U.S. volunteer arrested with drugs not complain about detention conditions

A U.S. volunteer, who was arrested with drugs, does not complain about the conditions in the Osh detention center. The Torture Prevention Center reported.

According to the center, during transportation from Toktogul District Department of Internal Affairs to Osh pre-trial detention center 5, Yii Daniel James did not voice any complaints. The center will send its employees to the pre-trial detention center to monitor conditions of detention of the U.S. citizen. Yii Daniel James is kept in a mass cell.

The second person involved in the criminal case — U.S. citizen Pavel Devyatkin was placed under house arrest after Yii Daniel James took all the blame upon himself, claiming that the drugs belonged to him.

 Yii Daniel James and Pavel Devyatkin were detained with a kilogram of marijuana on September 19.

The U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan stressed that the diplomatic mission cooperates with local authorities in cases of detention of its citizens in the Kyrgyz Republic.
