US Department of State congratulates new President of Kyrgyzstan

The US Department of State congratulated the elected president of Kyrgyzstan, Sooronbai Jeenbekov, who took office on November 24, 2017.

«The United States welcome the President Jeenbekov and the people of Kyrgyzstan who have chosen the path of democracy that organized the democratic process, who made a peaceful transfer of power possible,» the statement said.

The US Department of State especially notes the first precedent of the peaceful transfer of power in the history of the countries of Central Asia.

The statement also says that the US intends to continue cooperation with the new president and his administration «in the spirit of equality, trust and mutual respect.»
