A rare and surprisingly beautiful flower — snow lotus (Saussureae Involucratae), listed in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan, bloomed on the territory of Kumtor mine at an altitude of about 4,000 meters above sea level. Kumtor Gold Company shared the photos.
Snow lotus, or Saussureae Involucratae, is a high-altitude plant that grows at an altitude from 3,000 to 4,500 meters above sea level, on cliffs and rocky slopes.
«This rare flower is difficult to find in the wild due to its limited growing area. However, the snow lotus found a place to bloom on the territory of Kumtor mine, in conditions of strict compliance with environmental regulations,» the company said.
