A two-year-old girl fell into a coma after a brutal beating in Batken. The Internal Affairs Department of the region and the Ministry of Health confirmed the information to 24.kg news agency.
On June 7, the regional hospital informed the police that a child, 2, had been admitted to the intensive care unit. The girl was unconscious. The fact was registered and an investigation began. As a result, a criminal case was opened under Article 138 «Torture» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The girl’s grandmother also filed a statement to the police. A 40-year-old stepfather of the girl, a resident of Buzhum village, was detained on suspicion of beating the child. He was placed in a temporary detention facility for 48 hours.
Commenting on the condition of the victim, the Ministry of Health told to 24.kg news agency that the girl has been in a coma since her admission to the hospital and has been connected to a ventilator. Diagnosis: closed craniocerebral injury with brain contusion. Her condition is assessed as extremely serious.
