A group of surgeons from Qatar, led by Professor Abdulsalam Al-Qahtani, perform surgeries on children with hearing impairments at the National Center for Maternal and Child Welfare in Bishkek. The press center of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan reported.
According to it, the Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic Alymkadyr Beishenaliev visited the center the day before.
«About 50 children will undergo surgeries at the National Center during the week. According to the previously signed memorandum, the Government of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, bears all financial costs, including the provision of cochlear implant systems and related to the rehabilitation of children after surgery,» the ministry reported.
In total, more than 200 children have undergone cochlear implantation surgeries at the National Center.
«These surgeries are a step towards a new life for our little patients. We highly appreciate the support of the State of Qatar, which helps give children a chance for a full future and development,» Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said.
The Ministry of Health recalled that cooperation and plans for performing about 300 surgeries over three years and organizing master classes for training Kyrgyz ENT specialists were discussed in 2023 during a meeting of the minister with the Professor Abdulsalam Al-Qahtani and the head of the Cochlear Implantation Support Committee Saad Omran Al Kuwari.
