Kyrgyzstan seeks investors for development of Batken region

Within the framework of implementation of the law on the special status of Batken region, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan is working together with international financial institutions on attraction of investment to the region, the ministry’s press office reported.

«Regional Economic Development of Batken» project with the term of its implementation from 2022 till 2027 is discussed with the World Bank.

The WB project envisages a preliminary amount of $50 million with an implementation period of six years.

It covers six components:

  • Planning for sustainable development of the area;
  • Maintaining municipal infrastructure and basic public services;
  • Strengthening agri-food clusters;
  • Small grants program to support small and medium-sized businesses;
  • Responding to possible emergency situation;
  • Support for project implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
