Only 10 percent of energy potential of Kyrgyzstan used

«The energy potential of Kyrgyzstan is estimated at 142 billion kilowatt-hours, but only 10 percent are used,» the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Aibek Dzhunushaliev stated today.

According to him, the limited financial resources, shortcomings in increasing human resources potential and corruption have led to the fact that the energy sector lagged more and more behind in development from year to year.

«Unfortunately, the policy pursued in recent years on the economic regulation of the energy sector has not brought the expected results. Each decision was postponed, in connection with which it is necessary to take drastic measures to improve the state of the energy industry. We must use electricity to the extent necessary for the country’s economy. To do this, we need to carry out a reform,» Aibek Dzhunushaliev said.
