There are 42 coal mines in Sulyukta. Mayor of the town Maksat Kadyrkulov told 24.kg news agency.
According to him, about 2,000 miners work there. About 300,000 tons of coal are mined there annually.
«Every year we try to fulfill the production plan by the deadlines. Our solid fuel is considered the most high-calorie fuel in Kyrgyzstan. Coal used to be exported to Tajikistan. But this year we began to distribute it in our country, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. We are negotiating with Uzbekistan to increase the volume of exports,» Maksat Kadyrkulov said.
The official also noted that only men work in the mines. Therefore, it was decided to create jobs for women and open a garment plant. It will open within a month. Initially, 300-350 people will work there. By the end of 2022, it is planned to provide 1,000 jobs.
