Kyrgyzstan quadruples supplies of garments to Russia

Supplies of light industry goods from Kyrgyzstan to Russia doubled in 2022 to about $200 million, with garment exports quadrupling. Representative of the Consulate General of the Kyrgyz Republic in Russia, Aigerim Sharapova, announced at the Fashion Week in Yekaterinburg.

According to her, the trade turnover of the Kyrgyz Republic with the Russian Federation following the results of light industry exports for 2021 amounted to $136 million, including garments in the amount of $84 million. Only from January to July this year, exports of garments quadrupled compared to last year and amounted to $112 million.

Such indicators, as Aigerim Sharapova noted, the republic has achieved due to several factors. The first is parallel import. The second is the problems of other supplier countries with logistics. The third is an open regime for trade and investment in the region. The fourth is a favorable tax regime on a license basis. The simplified taxation system provides for the right of subjects of the clothing and textile industries to pay a single tax rate of 0.25 percent.

Kyrgyzstan takes the fifth place in terms of exports to Russia among the countries of the near abroad. The volume of trade between the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic for the first half of 2022 increased by 40 percent to $1.4 billion.
