Modern tunnel to be built on alternative North – South road

The most modern 3 km 850 m long tunnel will be built on Kok-Art Pass of alternative North — South road. The Minister of Transport and Roads Zhamshitbek Kalilov stated at a press conference.

«Two tunnels will be dug at the pass, one - for the transport, the second one is intended for emergency services, ambulances, firemen. In addition,  special manholes will be in every 400 m of the tunnels, which will allow getting out in an emergency case," the minister said.

As he noted, modern fire extinguishing equipment, surveillance systems, air purifiers will be installed. The walls of the tunnel will be sheathed with materials withstanding the highest temperature. «The width of the tunnel will be 12 m, and the height — nine," Zhamshitbek Kalilov said.
