Suspected drug cartel leader detained in Kyrgyzstan after 11 years on the run

The State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Kyrgyzstan detained a citizen suspected of leading an organized criminal group involved in international drug trafficking.

According to the security services, the suspect had been on the wanted list since 2015. Investigators believe he organized a drug smuggling route from Afghanistan via Tajikistan to Kyrgyzstan, with further distribution across CIS countries.

The SCNS reported that, following long-term operational and investigative measures, authorities established the suspect’s whereabouts. After arrest, he was placed in the detention facility of the security services.

Investigative and operational activities are ongoing to identify other members of the criminal network and bring them to justice.
