Akylbek Japarov: We are on threshold of new stage of Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation

«We are on the threshold of a new stage of Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation,» the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov said, speaking at the VI Kyrgyz-Russian Economic Forum, which is taking place in Issyk-Kul region.

He noted that modern geopolitical and economic challenges open up not only difficulties, but also new opportunities for joint growth and strengthening of relations between Kyrgyzstan and Russia. In this context, he outlined the importance of showing flexibility, initiative and strategic vision in order not only to respond to challenges, but also to proactively seek new paths for successful development.

«Today we can proudly say that we are confidently moving towards the implementation of the Intergovernmental Program of Economic Cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia for 2022-2026. This is not just a plan — it is a roadmap that determines the future of our countries for many years to come. The most important mechanism in this process is the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, which has financed over 3,400 projects for $727.5 million over the past 10 years. These significant investments not only contribute to business development, modernization of production facilities and creation of new jobs, but also strengthen strong economic ties between entrepreneurs of our countries,» he said.

Akylbek Japarov highlighted a number of promising areas with great potential for development.

«We are confident that the Kyrgyz textile and garment industry, which has great potential, is ready to make itself known in international markets. Platforms such as Wildberries and Ozon open up opportunities for export of our products and create a direct channel of interaction between our countries. We pay special attention to the agro-food sector; Kyrgyzstan has significant resources for the production and supply of high-quality and organic agricultural products to Russia. Tourism is another promising area. Our unique natural resources, high mountain ranges, pristine lakes and the hospitality of the people of Kyrgyzstan have long attracted Russian tourists. This year, Russian investors are starting construction of Karkyra ski resort in Issyk-Kul region and Baitik Resort complex,» he said.

The economic forum was organized by the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.
