Kyrgyzstan plans to create high-tech cardiovascular cluster

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov met with representatives of the largest company producing medical equipment Medtronic plc. Press service of the Cabinet reported.

The parties discussed implementation of a project to create a high-tech cardiovascular cluster on the basis of the National Center for Cardiology and Therapy. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers expressed his readiness to support projects for the development of high-tech medicine.

«Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of death in the country, sad statistics testify to this. The necessary funds will be allocated, we are ready to sign a contract in the very near future,» said Akylbek Japarov and added that a similar cluster should also be introduced in the regions.

Representatives of the company told about the details of creation of the cluster, noting that medical products will be supplied directly from Medtronic plc plant and their cost will be below the market one.

It was also noted at the meeting that the company’s representatives will carry out a complete modernization of the Department of Cardiovascular Diseases of the National Center for Cardiology and Therapy and train medical specialists to work with new high-tech equipment.

Akylbek Japarov noted that the widespread use of advanced information technologies in medicine will not only help to provide highly qualified assistance to the patients with cardiovascular diseases, but will also become an impetus for the development of medical tourism.

«My mom is 83 and she leads an active lifestyle with multiple heart stents. It is gratifying that global companies have begun to come to our country, this is a sign that we are doing everything right. Stability is the most important factor in the development of the country,» the head of the Cabinet concluded and instructed the Minister of Health to speed up the process of preparing documentation and begin active implementation of the cluster project.
