After the information about formaldehyde found in Karaganda (Kazakhstan) in children’s garments, the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan will once again conduct a laboratory test.

According to the director of the State Sanitary Epidemiological Supervision Department Tolo Isakov, formaldehyde is used in all countries in the textile industry to make fabrics crease-resistant, low shrinking and form- stable.

«First we need to identify specifically the exporters, the kind of these garments. After all, there is not only the production of domestic producers, but also many foreign products in the market of Kyrgyzstan like in other countries. The reasons can be different,» said Tolo Isakov.

According to the press center of the Ministry of Health, the toxicological laboratory of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic in 2017 conducted 95 tests on the content of formaldehyde, benzene and toluene in textile garments, including children’s and school ones.

Deviations from the norms were not revealed. At the beginning of 2018, 10 tests were conducted in the laboratory, and according to their results, the content of formaldehyde in clothes did not exceed the maximum allowable concentrations.
