Russian President Vladimir Putin arrives in Kazakhstan on state visit

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Kazakhstan on a state visit. He was welcomed at the Astana airport by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Akorda reports.

The Russian leader will also participate in a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the Eurasian Economic Forum.

During the talks, the heads of state will discuss the current state and prospects for strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership and allied relations between Kazakhstan and Russia.

On May 28, the Eurasian Economic Forum will be held with the participation of the heads of state of the Eurasian Economic Union. A meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will be held on May 29.

Ahead of the visit, the national newspaper Kazakhstanskaya Pravda published an article by Vladimir Putin in which he emphasized that the two countries are bound by truly strong ties of friendship, good-neighborliness, and mutually beneficial cooperation, based on a shared history, the close intertwining of cultures, and human destinies.
