In Jalal-Abad region, a mudflow destroyed a bridge on Tash-Kumyr — Kerben road and swept away a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibus. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
According to the ministry, on May 22 at around 4.20 p.m, after a brief downpour, mudflows descended through gorges in Ak-Suu rural municipality of Aksy district.
As a result, a powerful mudflow completely destroyed a bridge on the Balapan-Sai mudflow pass, approximately 5 kilometers along the Tash-Kumyr — Kerben road.
At that moment, the Sprinter minibus, traveling from Kerben toward Tash-Kumyr, was swept away by the mudflow. The vehicle was dragged approximately 150 meters.
According to preliminary reports, there were two men in the vehicle. The injured were taken to Tash-Kumyr City Hospital in local residents’ cars.
The injured were:
- Zh.K., 19;
- T.A., 29.
Both were discharged after receiving outpatient care.
Emergency Ministry personnel, police, the Patrol Service, and rescue workers are working at the scene. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
