Security services detained the former head of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use Duishenbek Zilaliev, a source in the security forces told 24.kg news agency.
The State Committee for National Security officers detained Zilaliev on September 12. A week ago, Melis Satybekov, the former director of the State Agency for Geology and Subsoil Use under the Ministry of Energy, was also detained.
It is known that they are suspected of corruption-related crimes committed in 2017. The source noted that then the both officials had access to mineral deposits and issued licenses for their development for a separate fee. Satybekov was placed in the pretrial detention until November 4, 2024.
In December 2018, the State Committee for National Security found undeclared houses, apartments and millions on a bank account of the former deputy prime minister. He calls the case against him a political show and does not admit guilt. Duishenbek Zilaliev was sentenced to nine years in prison. In June 2021, the Supreme Court overturned the decisions of previous instances and returned the case for a new trial.
