Top 3 popular products sold by Kyrgyzstan and its closest neighbors

Kyrgyzstan exports a large number of different goods, from fruits and vegetables to gold and other minerals. But what goods does the country sell the most?

24.kg news agency studied the most popular export goods of Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan, using the data from official sources, such as statistical and customs services of the countries.

Kyrgyzstan

According to the National Statistical Committee, the volume of trade of Kyrgyzstan in January-June 2024 amounted to $7.59 billion. Exports accounted for nearly $1.3 billion. However, it is worth taking into account that the republic does not keep a lot of goods for itself now, but is engaged in re-export.

The most popular goods sold by Kyrgyzstan:

  • Gold — $405.7 million;
  • Ores and concentrates of precious metals — $78.2 million;
  • Oil products — $64.7 million.

The main buyers of goods from Kyrgyzstan:

  • Great Britain (gold for $211.9 million),
  • China (gold for $129.4 million),
  • Kazakhstan (ore for $57.8 million).

Taking into account the number of citizens (7.2 million people), exports per capita amounted to about $180.5.

Armenia

According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, its trade volume in January-June 2024 amounted to $18.4 billion. Exports — $7.9 billion.

This country sends its goods mainly to the UAE ($3.6 billion), Russia ($1.4 billion) and China ($714 million).

The leading export goods:

  • Precious and semi-precious stones — $5.6 billion;
  • Machinery and equipment — $608 million;
  • Mining products — $492 million.

Taking into account the number of citizens (3,057 million people), exports per capita amounted to about $2,500.

Kazakhstan

According to the National Statistics Bureau of Kazakhstan, the republic’s foreign trade turnover in January-June 2024 amounted to $66.8 billion. Exports — $39.2 billion.

Kazakhstan mainly supplies goods to Italy ($9.2 billion), China ($7.3 billion) and Russia ($4.2 billion).

The most popular export goods:

  • Fuel and energy — $23.1 billion;
  • Chemical products — $2.9 billion;
  • Animal and plant products — $2.2 billion.

Taking into account the country’s population of 20,159 million people, exports per capita amounted to $1,944.

Russia

According to the Federal Customs Service of Russia, the total trade turnover of the Russian Federation in January-June 2024 amounted to $337.8 billion. Exports — $207.1 billion.

The country mainly supplies goods to countries in Asia ($156.2 billion), Europe ($31.7 billion) and Africa ($12.3 billion).

The most popular export products:

  • Mineral products — $129.7 billion;
  • Metals and metal products — $27.8 billion;
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials — $20.8 billion.

About 146.2 million people lives in Russia. In terms of exports per capita, the figure is $1,416.

Uzbekistan

According to the Statistics Agency, the country’s total foreign trade turnover for the first six months of this year amounted to $31.8 billion. Exports — almost $13 billion.

Uzbekistan’s key export partners are Russia ($1.7 billion), China ($994 million), and Kazakhstan ($619 million).

Main exports:

  • Gold — $4.2 billion;
  • Services — $3.1 billion;
  • Industrial goods — $2 billion.

The number of citizens of the republic is 37.1 million people. In terms of exports per capita, the figure is $350.
