Kyrgyzstani convicted of participation in war obtains Russian citizenship

Kyrgyzstani Askar Kubanychbek, convicted in his homeland for voluntary participation in the war in Ukraine, returned to Russia and obtained a Russian passport.

«I am very glad that I became a citizen of Russia. Obtaining the passport was a lot of work for me. I am grateful to everyone who helped me,» he said in an interview with a journalist from Regnum news agency.

It is noted that Askar Kubanychbek signed a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry at the beginning of the summer. All this time, he was at the selection point and was trying to obtain the Russian passport. After successful obtaining of citizenship, Askar Kubanychbek will go to a military unit to serve in the Russian army.

According to Regnum, the deputy chairman of Call of the People movement Anton Egovtsev helped the Kyrgyzstani obtain political asylum. Later, on June 7, he was killed in Moscow by his wife’s stalker.

It was reported earlier that Askar Kubanychbek lived in Russia before the special military operation and worked in the film industry. In 2022, he volunteered for the combat zone. And when he returned to the Kyrgyz Republic due to his father’s illness, he was subjected to criminal prosecution and accused of mercenary activities.

The citizen of Kyrgyzstan, Askar Kubanychbek uulu, convicted of participation in the war in Ukraine, was supported in the Russian Federation.

In January, the convict was released from serving his sentence with probation supervision for three years. This decision was made by the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek.
