Member of the Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan (CEC) was acquitted due to a lack of evidence. Own sources informed 24.kg news agency.
The decision was made by the judge of the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek Emilbek Kaipov.
«The victim refused to support the charges, and the prosecutor asked to recognize Akylbek Eshimov guilty and to sentence him with the use of probation supervision. Judge Emilbek Kaipov acquitted the accused in full, deciding that the dispute between the victim and the CEC member should be resolved in a civil manner,» the editors said.
Akylbek Eshimov was detained in September 2021. According to investigators, the member of the CEC, in collusion with one of the leaders of Kyrgyzstan political party, received $550,000 from the claimant in June 2020 for inclusion in the top five candidates for deputies from the political organization in the parliamentary elections scheduled for autumn 2020.
Having failed to fulfill obligations, he and one of the leaders of the party returned $300,000 to A.D., and embezzled $250,000.
