65 percent of COVID-19 victims had cardiovascular diseases

At least 65 percent of those who died from COVID-19 had cardiovascular diseases. Telegram channel of COVID-19 headquarters reports.

At least 103,592 cases of COVID-19 infection have been registered in Kyrgyzstan in 2021. Some 1,446 people have died.

«According to an analysis by the Ministry of Health, the highest mortality rate is registered among the elderly aged 60 and over 90. The lowest is among children aged 0-6. However, deaths of newborns and infants from COVID-19 infection were still officially registered in contrast to the age group from 7 to 17,» the report says.

Lethal cases were most often registered among men from 60 to 69 years old.

Most deaths from the coronavirus, and overall virus cases were registered in Bishkek. About 868 people died in the capital last year. «But high mortality per 100,000 people was also recorded in Talas, Issyk-Kul and Chui regions, exceeding the national rate 1.75, 1.5 and 1.2 times, respectively,» the headquarters added.

Causes of the death are late consultation with doctors (of all recorded cases, 45 percent were seen by a doctor later than five days after the onset of illness) and the presence of chronic diseases, which can lead to a severe course of coronavirus infection and various complications.

The three most common chronic diseases among those who died from coronavirus infection were cardiovascular disease (65 percent of all deaths), liver disease (20 percent) and diabetes mellitus (15 percent).

Earlier, the head of the Republican Scientific and Practical Centre for Control of Viral Infections Zuridin Nurmatov said that the mortality rate has been rising in Kyrgyzstan.
