Atyr Abdrakhmatova elected Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan

Parliament elected Atyr Abdrakhmatova as an Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan. The decision was made yesterday at a meeting.

At least 50 deputies voted for her candidacy. Only 2 votes were cast for Tursunbek Akun, 9 — for Mamat Momunov, and 13 — for Bakyt Uzenbaev.

Ex-Ombudsman Tokon Mamytov resigned on October 18, 2021 due to his participation in the parliamentary elections.

Atyr Abdrakhmatova has already run for the post of Ombudsman: in 2015, she was nominated by Respublika-Ata Zhurt faction. According to the results of the third round, only 46 deputies voted for her candidacy and 69 MPs voted against.
