Yntymak faction nominates Tursunbek Akun for post of Ombudsman

Yntymak parliamentary faction nominated Tursunbek Akun for the post of Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan. Deputy Meder Aliev announced at a meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Judicial, Legal Issues and Regulations of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan.

Yiman Nuru faction proposed the candidacies of Atyr Abdrakhmatova, Bakyt Uzenbaev and Mamat Momunov.

Butun Kyrgyzstan, Ata Zhurt Kyrgyzstan and Ishenim factions also previously nominated Atyr Abdrakhmatova for the post of head of the Ombudsman’s Institute.

Ex-Ombudsman Tokon Mamytov resigned on October 18, 2021 due to his participation in the parliamentary elections.

Atyr Abdrakhmatova has already run for the post of Ombudsman: in 2015, she was nominated by Respublika-Ata Zhurt faction. According to the results of the third round, only 46 deputies voted for her candidacy and 69 MPs voted against.
