Ex-deputy of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan, Ravshan Jeenbekov, was placed in the pretrial detention center 1 until February 9, 2020. The decision was made by the Pervomaisky District Court.

According to the lawyer of Jeenbekov, Zamir Jooshev, he asked to release the detainee on bail, but the judge Adylbek Subankulov refused. «He is suspected of three grave and especially grave articles — taking Alfa employees hostage, arranging mass riots and attempt to seize power. These charges were allegedly brought on the basis of testimony of witnesses. However, I got acquainted with these testimonies, and there are no words that Ravshan Jeenbekov has committed some crimes,» he said.

The lawyer noted that he would appeal the court decision.

The former parliament member was detained on December 12 as part of a criminal case on riots in Koi-Tash village during detention of the former president of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev. Earlier, the politician was repeatedly questioned by investigators of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
