Omurbek Tekebayev not to plead pardon from president

The leader of Ata Meken party, Omurbek Tekebayev, will not plead pardon from the President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov. His lawyer Taalaigul Toktakunova told 24.kg news agency.

According to her, the day before, representatives of the State Penitentiary Service came to the National Cardiology Center for the 2nd time, where the imprisoned politician was treated, and presented him a pardon from the president of the transitional period Roza Otunbayeva, signed by the leaders of six parliamentary factions.

«They asked whether he himself would file a petition. Omurbek Tekebayev repeatedly explained his position. He stressed that he supported the petition by Roza Otunbayeva and the heads of the factions, but would not write anything himself, since he did not consider himself as guilty. Omurbek Tekebayev added that Roza Otunbayeva also indicated this in her petition,» said Taalaigul Toktakunova.

Omurbek Tekebayev said that his case was political, not criminal. He is not guilty of anything and a fraudster Leonid Maevsky has slandered him.
