The petition for pardon of the leader of Ata Meken party, Omurbek Tekebayev, which was sent to the President of the country by Roza Otunbayeva, was signed by the leaders of all six factions of the Parliament. The information was confirmed in the Parliament.
The former head of state Roza Otunbayeva called on factions’ leaders to support her. Almambet Shykmamatov (Ata Meken), Bakyt Torobayev (Onuguu-Progress), Almazbek Baatyrbekov (Kyrgyzstan), Altynbek Sulaimanov (Bir Bol), Zhyrgalbek Turuskulov (Respublika — Ata Jurt) and Isa Omurkulov (SDPK) supported Roza Otunbayeva unanimously.
According to her, Omurbek Tekebayev was convicted illegally, based on a slander of a foreign scammer, and unlawfully sentenced to imprisonment by the regime of Almazbek Atambayev.
Omurbek Tekebayev and Duishenkul Chotonov received eight years in prison with confiscation of property. Courts of all instances found them guilty of corruption.
In November, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow arrested the former State Duma deputy, the main witness in the Tekebayev-Chotonov case, a businessman Leonid Maevsky. He was accused of extorting $ 37.5 million for non-proliferation of defamatory information. Leonid Maevsky faces up to 15 years in prison.
