Coalition nominates Asylbek Zheenbekov for post of parliamentary speaker
The coalition intends to nominate Asylbek Zheenbekov for the post of Speaker of the Parliament. Sources in the Parliament informed 24.kg news agency.
According to them, he is the only candidate proposed by SDPK. "Kyrgyzstan, Onuguu and Ata Meken factions agreed with the choice. By law, the opposition will also present its own candidate. It is noted that it might be Talant Mamytov, having experience in vice speakership in the 5th convocation of the Parliament, or Iskhak Pirmatov. But there should be also a common candidate," Parliament officials said.
Asylbek Zheenbekov was the Speaker of the Parliament of the 5th convocation. He was elected in December 2011, but left the post on October 15, 2015.
Yesterday, four factions have agreed on formation of a coalition of parliamentary majority. It will include the Social Democrats, Kyrgyzstan, Onuguu and Ata Meken. Respublika - Ata Jurt and Bir Bol remain in opposition.
The official signing of an agreement on a coalition "Stability, confidence and new opportunities in the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic" will be held on Monday, November 2. The meeting, where the deputies will approve the composition and structure of the government, elect the Speaker and the Prime Minister, is to take place on November 4.
