Kyrgyz businessman held to ransom released in Tajikistan

A 32-year-old entrepreneur from Osh region was released as a result of an operation of the Kyrgyz law enforcement agencies and special services of Tajikistan. The businessman was held to ransom, press service of the regional police department reported.

According to the department, the Kyrgyzstani was held captive by citizens of Tajikistan for 10 days. After arriving home, he was hospitalized with multiple injuries, bruises and a brain concussion.

In December 2016, the businessman reportedly went to Tajik Khujand to sell his car with the help of a friend. However, the latter took the Kyrgyzstani hostage, tortured, and extorted from his family $ 23,000.

Criminals were detained. Criminal case was opened.
