Kazakhstan introduces reduced railway tariff for transit of goods from Kyrgyzstan

A unified tariff for transportation of cargo to / from Kyrgyzstan in transit through Kazakhstan will enter into force today. President of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy - Freight service JSC Oralkhan Kulakov announced today at a briefing.

It is noted that Kazakhstan Temir Zholy has decided to introduce the reduced rate in advance. Initially, it was planned to introduce it in the middle of August 2017. All forwarding agents involved in transportation accept the new tariff.

"The Ministry of Agriculture has done a great job on the conditions of transportation of quarantineable goods. From January 10, there have been created favorable conditions for cargo transportation to / from Kyrgyzstan through Kazakhstan. Kyrgyzstan is a member of EEU, so they have the right to have a unified tariff," Oralkhan Kulakov stressed.

Transportation from Lugovaya to Iletsk station is a route for the transit of certain animal products from Kyrgyzstan to Russia. Its length is 2,021 km.

Previously, the transit of goods in refrigerator wagon cost $ 5,155, now it is $ 1, 820.7. Transit railway tariff was reduced 2.83 times.

Oralkhan Kulakov said that the loss of 42 billion tenge from the tariff reduction for the Kyrgyz direction would be compensated by three times increase in the number of transportations.

Vice Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Gulmira Isaeva said that Kazakhstan still did not agree to remove veterinary posts on the border with Kyrgyzstan. 

There is a number of comments on results of December inspection in Kyrgyzstan. It was revealed that more than a half of them are in the stage of elimination.

Therefore, on December 26, 2016 at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in St. Petersburg it was decided to keep the veterinary posts on the border.

The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan also banned transit of Kyrgyz goods through its territory by road. Kyrgyzstan complained of the actions of colleagues to the Eurasian Economic Commission.
