Leadership of CSTO changes

From January 1, 2017 the duties of the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) assigned to the Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO Valery Semerikov, the organization's website informs.

The powers of the CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha expired on December 31, 2016. Therefore, the duties of the head of the organization are entrusted to Valery Semerikov.

Nikolai Bordyuzha was CSTO Secretary General since 2003. His term of office till January 1, 2017 was extended at CSTO summit in Moscow in December 2015.

CSTO members are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. In 2012, Uzbekistan announced that it suspends participation in the work of the organization.
