Workers from EEU countries to get access to medical insurance policy in Russia from January 1

From January 1, 2017, migrant workers from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union will have access to the compulsory health insurance in Russia, the press service of the EEC reported.

The EEU Treaty provides that the social security (except pension) of workers of the Union countries and their families is carried out under the same conditions and in the same manner as for citizens of the state. Compulsory health insurance is also a part of social security.

Earlier, temporarily staying workers from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan were unable to become a participant of the compulsory health insurance program in Russia.

"After adoption of this decision by Russia, tens of thousands of workers from the EEU countries will have access to social guarantees on a par with Russian citizens," a member of the Board on Internal Markets, Information and Communication Technologies of the  EEC Karine Minasyan summed up.
