EEU summit: Kyrgyzstan to repeatedly raise veterinary control issue

Kyrgyzstan will once again raise the issue of withdrawal of the veterinary control on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border at the summit of EEU heads of state. The Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Oleg Pankratov told journalists today.

"We have raised the checkpoints issue at the council at the level of vice prime ministers. We informed our partners that we have carried out most of the activities related to the execution of the road map, and raised the question of the removal of veterinary posts. Our colleagues said that they would come here to make sure," Oleg Pankratov said.

 "The inspection took place, the experts came. They inspected checkpoints, laboratories, the activities of the veterinary service. This issue was discussed again at the last Council meeting in Moscow. All countries, except Kazakhstan, have confirmed that our service was completely ready for the implementation of functions within EEU commitments and veterinary control could be removed," he added.

"The conclusion is ready, but Kazakhstan, unfortunately, refrained from its adoption, citing the fact that the issue requires approval of the leadership. We expect that our colleagues are ready to sign it. This will mean the removal of veterinary control. If it does not happen, the question will be raised at the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council at the level of the presidents," Oleg Pankratov said.

Meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will take place today in St. Petersburg (Russia). Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev left Bishkek this morning.
