Identification equipment fails in local councils’ elections in Osh city

Identification equipment has failed in local councils' elections in Osh city. The Chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of the Kyrgyz Republic Tuigunaaly Abdraimov told today at a press conference.

He explained that it occurred at Babur polling station, where all four identification equipment units  have failed, so the citizens were forced to wait for a couple of hours until it was repaired. "Somewhere one of three identification devices failed. In some districts members of precinct election commissions incorrectly turned on the automatically reading ballot boxes. But now, all the equipment at all polling stations is working properly," Tuigunaaly Abdraimov assured.

The head of the Central Election Commission said that observers are working at all polling stations, in particular, at least 500 observers from the Coalition for Democracy and Civil Society including 348 people - short-term observers are monitoring the election process. In addition, there are observers from Taza Shailoo Organization, political parties and individual candidates.

Recall, earlier on the First Vice Mayor of Osh Zamirbek Askarov told that the election in the southern capital take place without incidents.
