Price of imported from Kazakhstan electricity increased because of exchange rate difference, the head of the State Agency for Regulation of Energy Nurbek Elebaev said today at a press conference.

According to him, Electrical Stations OJSC pays for electricity in tenge. For this soms are converted into dollars and dollars - in tenge. Therefore the price of a kilowatt of electricity imported from Kazakhstan is around 5.61 soms.

"Under the contract, in December electricity from Kazakhstan cost 15.44 tenge, in January - 15.51. That is in the past month it has risen by 0.7 tenge. Many questions arose from the information about the upcoming rise in electricity prices in Kazakhstan from February 1. We made a request to Zhambyl state district power station.
