Ex-Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Temir Sariev called stupidity the introduction of mandatory registration for foreigners.
According to him, visa-free regime for the developed countries was introduced to encourage foreigners to come to Kyrgyzstan. This is one of the necessary steps for the development of tourism, and it worked perfectly: the flow of tourists has increased several times, Temir Sariev said.
"Changing the law on migration regarding the mandatory registration of foreign nationals within 5 days after arrival in Kyrgyzstan - crass stupidity. This negates the whole point of a visa-free regime," Temir Sariev noted.
He noted that the Border Service controls the entry of foreigners into the country at the border. "When the parliament considered the bill, some factions, positioning themselves as reformers and liberals during the election period, literally missed the norm. I am sure that the changes urgently should be canceled," Temir Sariev said.
Kyrgyzstan introduced mandatory registration of foreign citizens from countries with which visa, simplified and visa-free regime set. The exception is only for citizens of Russia, who may stay in the KR without registration up to 30 days.
