Prosecutor General’s Office to appeal against Keldibekov verdict

Prosecutor General's Office of Kyrgyzstan intends to appeal the verdict on Akhmatbek Keldibekov's case, website of the oversight body reports.

 The Prosecutor General's Office reminds that on November 12 Pervomay district court of Bishkek announced the verdict on the case of former deputy of the Parliament from Ata-Jurt party Akhmatbek Keldibekov according to which the accused was acquitted of the episode concerning his work at the Tax Service for failure of evidence. As for episode with opening of special office of the Parliament in Moscow when being a Speaker of Parliament, the court found him guilty and imposed 3 million soms fine to the state.

 "In the debates on the criminal case, the state prosecution has occupied the following position: to find A. Keldibekov guilty of abuse of office when being the head of the State Tax Service, and when he was a Speaker. And through a cumulative sentencing to definitively pronounce a sentence in form of 10 years imprisonment with confiscation of property to be served in a colony with reinforced regime," the prosecutor's office stressed.

In this regard, press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reports about the intention to appeal against the verdict to a higher court and to defend the position taken by the state prosecution in the First Instance Court.
