The project on promotion strengthening the rule of law in Kyrgyzstan is important primarily due to its budget. The EU Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Cesare de Montis told journalists yesterday.
According to him, the draft budget amounts to €13.5 million. "Not every day donors provide such amounts. We have great expectations from its implementation. And the second reason - the theme of the project, its direction. The purpose of the project - modernization of judicial system and its compatibility with the available resources. It is important that users of the judicial system feel the difference after implementation of this project, declaring the rule of law. At least 4 million are planned to be distributed between the NGOs and the media. We will also invite specialists and experts from Europe. But Kyrgyzstan is not interested that the whole army of experts from other countries arrive here. Thus, beneficiaries of the agreement insisted that a person, providing assist, should reside on the territory of the country permanently," said Cesare de Montis.
He added that such a project has been implemented in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, and everywhere, especially in Georgia, it yielded positive results in terms of reforming the justice system.
