More than half of registered cancer patients die in Kyrgyzstan

Mortality from malignant neoplasms is on rise in Kyrgyzstan. More than a half of the registered cancer patients die. Consultant of the press center of Ministry of Health Care Elena Bayalinova informed.

According to the organizational-methodological department of the National Cancer Center, in 2015 the republic has registered 24, 821 patients,  number of newly registered cancer patients reached 5,466, 3,414 of whom have died.

The incidence of malignant neoplasms in the Kyrgyz Republic has increased. In 2010 it amounted to 82.6 per 100 thousand people, in 2011 - 90.4, in 2012 - 89.1, in 2013 - 89.6, in 2014 - 95.1 and in 2015 - 91.7.

In 2015, the Children's Oncohematology Department has registered 187 patients with primary malignant tumors, 20 of whom have died. In general, the Children's Oncohematology Department treated 481 children. For six months of 2016, it received 209 patients, 9 of whom have died, which made up 4.3 percent.

"Today the Children's Oncohematology Department is provided with basic chemotherapy medicines, a great help is provided by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Kyrgyz government, the Ministry of Health Care of the Kyrgyz Republic and non-governmental organizations. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev has allocated 2 million som for chemotherapy medicines and 5 million soms for the equipment, repair at the intensive care unit and surgery suit of the children's department. Ministry of Health Care of the Kyrgyz Republic through the High-tech Fund allocated 3.5 million soms and procured chemotherapy medicines. The tender for the purchase of equipment for the surgery suit was held. Now there is a delivery of devices (medical operating table, a defibrillator, laryngoscope, operating lamp, operating table, bactericidal irradiator, medical suction unit, electrocoagulator)," Elena Bayalinova noted.
