Sapar Isakov: Boundaries between countries of Eurasian Economic Union to open only after ratification

"Boundaries between countries of the Eurasian Economic Union will open only after the ratification," the head of foreign policy department of the presidential administration of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov said today at a briefing.

According to him, first we must sign the protocols to the treaty of Kyrgyzstan's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union. Then the documents should be ratified in the association. Therefore, the exact date of the opening of borders of Kyrgyzstan in the framework of an economic union is unknown.

However, Sapar Isakov noted that there are no contradictions between the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Kyrgyz Republic, there are only two fundamental issues for the KR, because of which there is a delay in the signing of the final documents.

"We are waiting for the government to approve the document text protocols. For us it is important to defend our positions. I hope that the parties will find common ground," he said.

Note, Kyrgyzstan signed an agreement on accession to Eurasian Economic Union in December 2014. The republic was supposed to solve all the technical issues necessary for full membership in the organization till May.
