Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Malaysia was aware that the diplomatic mission in this country can be closed. The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported, commenting on the statement of Kylychbek Sultanov on early retirement.

The commentary said that by order of the President, the Ministry has been carrying out optimization of diplomatic missions of the Kyrgyz Republic since 2015. Consular office in Mashhad (Iran) was closed at the beginning of 2016, KR Embassy in Afghanistan was reorganized in June. The staff has been reduced to a minimum.

"In the absence of practical results, the dynamics in the development of bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and some foreign countries, in order to save funds, it was planned to make decisions on the reorganization or closure of other inefficient diplomatic missions, including the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Malaysia. The Ambassador Sultanov was informed about this in July," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed.

 Kylychbek Sultanov said that his intention to resign as head of the diplomatic mission is connected with his disagreement with the referendum on the Constitution and the amendments to it on the initiative of the "White House".
