Dastan Sarygulov detained and placed in SCNS temporary detention facility

Dastan Sarygulov was detained and placed in the temporary detention facility of the State Committee for National Security as a suspect today in Bishkek. The Public Relations and Mass Media Department of SCNS reported.

According to it, the decision was made within a criminal case on a charge of Bektur Asanov, Kuvanychbek Kadyrov, Dastan Sarygulov and others with preparing for the violent seizure of power, in connection with newly discovered evidence.

 "Within a criminal case on Kumtor project, SCNS Investigative Department considered the statement of the former president of Cameco, Kumtor Operating, Kumtor Gold, Centerra Gold Companies Leonard Homeniuk. In the statement, the author gives evidence of corruption in the actions of the former president of Kyrgyzaltyn Dastan Sarygulov, who supervised the implementation Kumtor project from 1992 to 1999 from the Kyrgyz side," SCNS reported.

As it became known, in the investigation of corruption in Kumtor project, the officers faced with considerable opposition and threat to the security of the involved in the case by the organizers of the corruption schemes - members and close to the families of Akayev and Bakiyev, who are not interested in discovering and publicizing corruption schemes, their personal commercial interests in Kumtor project.

The investigation did not rule out the version that attempts to destabilize the situation in the country, taken in March and May of this year, are related to the active investigation of corruption schemes by the authorities of Kyrgyzstan in Kumtor project.
