Media as thorn in the side of deputy

Kyrgyz parliament got mad in spring 2015. They are not satisfied with the work of the media. Even the speaker of parliament, according to the logic should be above any situation, allows voice "phi" against journalists. The arbitrator of Asylbek Zheenbekov, of course, is as foie gras from donkey's liver. However, the head of the legislature is required to demonstrate impartiality and not to kick when correspondents tell the public how the members of the parliament spend the money. After all, the speaker and deputies live at the expense of taxpayers' money and spend budget money. As we know, they are living not bad. Let's be honest, they live grandly...

But when our colleagues from Azattyk radio told about the costs of Parliament, the Speaker failed to control his emotions. At a meeting of the Parliament he appealed to the heads of the two committees, saying to react.

No one heard the righteous: colleagues, crisis in the country, the budget can't handle it, lets tighten the belt. But no, the speaker gave a runaround - journalists. According to Asylbek Zheenbekov, media are sticking its nose where it doesn't belong.

Deputies quickly forgot that they themselves prescribed tenets of transparency of their work in the Regulations of the parliament. Transparency means monitoring by civil society, the media and the electorate. And the financial component of the parliament too. Put simply, we all have the right to know how the legislative body spends our money.

But in Kyrgyzstan citizens know: all the beautiful regulations and laws are written for reporting, and fine words - for the sake of appearance or the international community. It doesn't concern realities.

The member of SDPK faction (ruling party) Irina Karamushkina regularly demonstrates how she doesn't care, for example, the laws "On the Media" and "On protection of professional activities of a journalist." What can we say about the saint - the Constitution, guaranteeing the right to receive information.

Madame Karamushkina stubbornly proves to everyone that she doesn't care the law. At the meeting of the Committee on Defense and Security she said: I don't want to see correspondent of 24.kg news agency Makhinur Niyazova at the meeting. So, you know, she "doesn't want to see the journalist at the meetings." She said that asked the chief of staff of the Parliament to deprive Makhinur Niyazova of parliamentary accreditation, and complained: they ignored my request.

I assume that she wasn't ignored, but they simply didn't find any grounds for depriving of a profession the representative of the news agency.

Why did the deputy decide that apparatchiks must fulfill her whims and caprices? The parliament once got its fingers burnt. When a member of Ar-Namys faction wrote a paper to deprive of accreditation Darya Podolskaya and Julia Kostenko. Officials of the press service of the Parliament rather than to understand and report to the authorities what had happened, silently shook its head. Our journalists were deprived of accreditation.

I'm sure the head of the department Ratbek Eshmambetov later felt himself in embarassing situation. We gave him a record on dictaphone of Igor Gusarov's revelations, who in his piece of paper, it turns out, lied that correspondents allegedly misrepresented his words.

The former speaker - Akhmatbek Keldibekov was the first in the fifth convocation to hit "hatchet" at the press. He, like the present one, didn't like that the journalists told about overseas voyage of the deputy landing troops. Correspondents of the Fifth Channel (Pyatyi Kanal) became the first victims of the fifth convocation. The convocation also tried to deprive them of accreditation. Then Fergana international agency got into disgrace. Its website was blocked in Kyrgyzstan.

Apparently, deputies liked to fight with the media. They have initiated a number of amendments, in fact infringing on freedom of speech. This list, of course, includes the law of the false statement.

Omurbek Tekebayev, Zhyldyzkan Dzholdoshova, the same Irina Karamushkina are in litigation with the press. Deputies flied into a rage. They are in litigation with each other.

Large claims against the representatives of mass media the Parliament referred to as "quest for justice." By sincere opinion of the majority of the parliament's members, journalists should write, show and tell exclusively in bravura colors. Preferably with a slight admiration and strum a slender band of enthusiastic sobs.

But it is not journalist who makes a deputy to speak nonsense. Not a journalist gushes delusions and outputs them to the surface. There is no sense to list what is included in the anti-rankings of almost all media.

Representatives of the fifth convocation shouldn't look for guilty. Certainly the press is not to be blamed that deputies are laughed at.

A journalist must talk about the shortcomings and mistakes he sees or finds in the work of all authorities, including the legislature. Simply obliged. A duty of government, including the Parliament - to correct the mistakes. Eliminate them and not to make them in the future.

So Asylbek Zheenbekov and his 119 colleagues will have to reckon with the press.

The fifth convocation is not the first. The former also had such, for example, karamushkinas. Where are they now? That's what it is! And the press continues to work, I dare to remind...
