Mission of Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States reveals no facts of administrative bodies’ interference

Parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan were open and transparent. It was announced today by the head of the observer mission of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (CCTS) Ramil Gasanov at a press conference.

According to him, the mission includes 16 people. It was divided into two groups - one worked in Bishkek and Chui region, the second - in Osh and Kara-Suu district. In general, the mission visited 32 polling stations.

 "For the first time in its history, Kyrgyzstan held elections on the basis of biometric data. There were minor technical problems, some citizens could not find themselves in the lists and as a result were unable to vote, but it did not affect the election results," Ramil Gasanov said.

"The mission did not observe any violations of the law during the election campaign and on the election day. All legal and organizational conditions were provided to monitor the elections. Counting of ballots and results was conducted properly and in accordance with national legislation. In order to ensure transparent elections, there were created appropriate conditions for political parties and international observers. During the visit, we found no evidence of administrative bodies and law enforcement agencies' interference in the work of the precinct election commissions," Ramil Gasanov stated.

"The mission confirms that the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan were open, transparent and conformed to the national legislation of the country and generally accepted international norms of elections," he concluded.
