CIS security services to strengthen efforts on detection of trained in Syria terrorists

Heads of security bodies and special services of CIS countries have determined ways to improve the work on detection of people who have undergone terrorist training in Syria and Afghanistan. RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Public Relations Center of the Federal Security Service of Russia.

The next (39th) meeting of the Council of Heads of Security and Intelligence Services of CIS countries was held in Moscow yesterday.

 "Its participants discussed implementation of measures on coordinated development and elimination of the illegal activities of bandits," statement said.

The heads of the security services reached a consensus on the need to concentrate joint efforts on detection and elimination of routes for transfer of militants and arms supplies, as well as sources of funding of this criminal activity.

 "Security bodies and special services of CIS states are going to focus on detection and elimination of "sleeper" terrorist cells and suppressing the work of the recruiters who organize departure of our citizens abroad to the area of ​​activity of international gangs," statement on the results of the meeting says.

According to official data, at least 45 citizens of Kyrgyzstan were killed in military conflicts in Syria and Iraq. Therewith, recruitment and sending of Kyrgyz citizens abroad to participate in the armed conflict as part of international terrorist organizations continues. Hundreds of Kyrgyzstanis are involved in the fighting in Syria and Iraq. About 122 women and 83 children are among them. There were revealed 63 facts of departure of whole families.
