Kyrgyzstan has highest level of public support for Eurasian integration

The highest level of public support for Eurasian integration is in Kyrgyzstan. The Eurasian Development Bank reported.

 According to it, the day before the Center for Integration Studies has published a report on the results of the fourth wave of the study of integration preferences in CIS countries. More than 11,000 people from nine countries of CIS region: Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Ukraine participated in the survey in 2015.

It was noted that positive attitude towards the Eurasian economic integration dominates in EEU countries. The level of support of population of Russia and Kazakhstan for the participation in the EEU is 78 and 80 percent. At the same time, the citizens of Armenia and Belarus estimate participation in the EEU a little bit lower (56 and 60 percent). Armenia marked increase in the number of those who is indifferent or negative toward the country's participation in the EEU. The highest level among the countries of the union of public support for the Eurasian integration - 86 percent is recorded in Kyrgyzstan.

"Among the countries, which are not the members of the EEU, the highest rates of public support for the prospects of joining the union is in Tajikistan (72 percent). Some increase in the proportion of citizens who wish to see the country in the EEU - 53 percent compared to 49 in 2014- was observed in Moldova in 2015. In Ukraine, the public support for the prospects of joining the Union for the year declined up to 19 percent. However, 60 percent of the population is against such a step. In Georgia support of the idea of ​​joining the EEU for the year declined up to 41 percent," the study says.
