The Central Election Commission will schedule elections of Bishkek mayor no later than ten calendar days from the date of the first session of the newly elected city council. The law on the status of the capital says.
The newly elected deputies gathered for the first meeting today, December 30. Thus, until January 9, the CEC shall appoint the date of the elections. Currently, Albek Ibraimov is acting mayor of Bishkek. He was elected on February 27, 2016.
All the factions and coalition of the city council factions, as well as the Prime Minister have the right to nominate candidates for the post of mayor.
